A purple unicorn and pink pegasus sat across from each other at a café in Ponyville. The pegasus sighed, taking a sip of her coffee and placing it back down. The pegasus was in a pretty sour mood that day and was glad to have her friend there to talk to. When she was in the mood that is. The purple unicorn in front of her said meekly,
"Somepony said that I look like that serial killer Pinkamena from the papers."
"The only things that are similar between you and Pinkamena is your mane style and eye color. A long, straight mane and light blue eyes. That's just a coincidence."
The pegasus responded glumly. Not even a crack of a smile appeared on her face. The unicorn was shocked. Normally, her friend would be struggling to hold back her laughter. There was something seriously wrong with her.
"Maybe she's an evil Changeling!"
She thought to herself. Only one way to find out.
"Hey, what's my middle name?"
"Uuhh, what are you asking me that for Coal? You should know. It's your middle name."
The pegasus was confused. Why would her friend be asking her this? She sighed and said,
"Ding! Ding! Ding! You are correct! It's official! You're my friend Raspberry!"
Raspberry cocked an eyebrow.
"What the buck are you talking about? Haven't I always been your friend?"
"Yes! Of course! I just wanted to make sure you weren't an evil Changeling. I mean, I know you're part Changeling, but I wanted to make sure that you weren't Queen Chrysalis or a Changeling that didn't change with the others."
Coal said quickly and nervously.
"I mean, I technically didn't change with the others."
A flash of green fire formed around the pegasus and she changed into a Changeling with a ragged dark brown mane and tail dotted with gravity defying holes.
From a distance, a stallion shouted,
"Aaaaahhhhh! A Changeling!"
"Half-Changeling you idiot!"
Her voice was hollow and insect-like. Like somepony talking into a log but no real echo.
"So uumm, random question but, if you feed on love, why do you still go to the café with me?"
"Well, a normal Changeling can survive on love for at least two hours, so they need to constantly feed every two hours. That's pretty easy when you are around a lot of ponies full of love to share."
The Changeling's mouth began to water. She cleared her head and continued.
" However since I'm half-Changeling and half pony, I need to satisfy both dietary needs."
She changed back into her pony form and took another sip of her coffee. She turned her head to see Coal sitting as still as a statue with a terror struck face.
"Coal? Coal are you alright?"
After a few minutes, the unicorn shook her head and said,
"I knew you were a Changeling, but I never thought you would reveal your true form like that in public. Isn't that dangerous?"
"Not really. I mean, everypony knows that the Changelings are good now and that my grand- Queen Chrysalis, is probably far away by now. My dad revealed his true form to everypony and they still accepted him. I don't expect you, a normal pony to understand."
Raspberry pulled her ears back and lowered her head. Coal chuckled a bit.
"You're right. I don't understand but you're still my friend and I will do anything to make you happy again. Now, what's been bothering you?"
Raspberry took a deep breath and said,
"I've been having problems with my coltfriend Blackberry Jam."
"Oh. You want to talk about it?"
"Well, I feel we aren't technically a couple. I mean, we don't kiss. For certain reasons."
She said waving a hoof in front of her nose, sticking her tongue out.
"He makes me feel so uncomfortable at times. I-I've debated breaking up with him. I don't how to though."
She proceeded to show Coal the way they show affection by blowing a kiss towards her. A stallion was walking past and gave the two mares a strange look. He shrugged it off and went on his way. The mares looked at each other and started bursting with laughter.
"Did you see the look on his face?!"
Raspberry said calming herself down enough to talk before continuing laughing.
"It's not what it looks like!"
Coal said to the group of ponies gathering around. After a few minutes of dying with laughter, the two friends calmed down.
"So what do you think I should do about my coltfriend? Do you think I should break up with him? He often makes me feel uncomfortable when I'm around him and I cherish the days when I don't see him around town. That's not part of a good relationship."
"Do what you think is right. If he makes you feel uncomfortable, don't be with him. Don't be with somepony who makes you feel uncomfortable or you don't like."
"How do I do it without him getting him upset?"
"Just be honest and tell him the truth. I'm sure he'll understand."
Coal said finishing her coffee. She then got up and hugged her friend. Raspberry returned the hug and the two broke away. Coal walked over to her seat and threw away her coffee cup. She said goodbye to Raspberry and headed home. When Coal was out of earshot, Raspberry said to nopony in particular,
"Despite never being in a relationship, she gave pretty good advice."
